* Anomalous, early-season heat will continue through early next
  week.

.DISCUSSION...through next Tuesday.

High temperature records were broken at all seven climate sites
across southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and southeastern
California yesterday. This makes seven consecutive days of record
high temperatures for Las Vegas, a tie with August 15-21, 2020 and
July 6-12, 2024 for most consecutive days in Las Vegas with daily
record high temperatures. The upper level ridge is expected to stay
in place through at least the end of the week. Should the
temperature forecast stay on track, the streak for record high
temperatures in Las Vegas could rise to twelve, making this heat
wave a clear first place winner for consecutive daily high
temperature records. A passing shortwave should lower temperatures a
few degrees on Thursday, which may be the fly in the ointment to end
Las Vegas` record temperature streak. However, a more substantial
decrease in temperatures appears early next week as a trough
approaches the Pacific Coast and heights aloft begin to decrease.
Some uncertainty remains regarding the timing and depth of the
trough, but highs should eventually start to approach seasonal
normals.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Light
winds following typical diurnal directional patterns will persist
through this morning before southwesterly winds increase during the
afternoon. Sustained speeds of 10 to 12 knots are expected, with
occasional gusts to around 20 knots possible from mid-afternoon
through early evening. Lighter southwest winds will develop
overnight. VFR conditions will persist through the TAF period under
mainly clear skies.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Winds will remain light
and follow typical diurnal directional patterns through this morning
before breezy southwesterly winds increase across southern Nevada,
northwest Arizona, and the western Mojave Desert in southeast
California during the afternoon. Sustained winds of 12 to 20 knots
will be possible in these areas, with a few gusts to 25 knots
possible, especially near KDAG. Winds will decrease in all areas
after sunset. VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period
under mainly clear skies.
